With her Folded Map Project, Tonika Lewis Johnson collaborated with the Chicago Bungalow Association to ‘fold’ Chicago’s Bungalow Belt and interview three pairs of South Side/North Side Bungalow Twins.
In the first webisode, two pairs of homeowners are introduced and explain why they were interested in meeting their bungalow map twin. Tonika Lewis Johnson was joined by Partnerships & Curriculum Development Director of Folded Map, NFP Maria Krysan for the conversation, during which they introduced homeowners from the South and North Side to each other for discussions about their homeownership journeys. These conversations revealed noteworthy differences as a result of Chicago’s segregation—but connections were formed around commonalities too.
